I have a soil stack in the corner of my bathroom which has an AAV on the top (above basin waste height).
the toilet connector feeds into the stack and below that a 40mm waste goes in. The 40mm waste takes away water from the bath and basin. Quite a long run from the bath and the 32mm basin feeds into the 40mm pipe with a reducer and a tee.
When I have a shower, there seems to be an air lock / vacuum and draining is very slow. If I flush the toilet it just fills and drains very...
Air admittance valve not working??]]>5Durgo ValveSun, 03 Jan 2021 00:11:04 +0000
When planning the new layout, the durgo valve is the stumbling block. It was in the unit attached to the sink unit, but the layout never worked well. It seems to be that the toilet waste runs along the wall (used to...
Durgo Valve]]>Any experience with external oil boilers?Sat, 02 Jan 2021 22:41:21 +0000
In doing some research I see that various manufacturers do external versions of their oil boilers. The costs aren't much more than the internal versions of the same units.
The existing floor mounted boiler is built into the kitchen units so it takes up space and can be heard.
There is plenty of space on the other side of the external wall directly behind the existing boiler. It is an unobtrusive...
Any experience with external oil boilers?]]>6Boiler pressure fluctuatingSat, 02 Jan 2021 22:39:04 +0000
Had Worchester Greenstar 2000 combi boiler installed 5 months ago. Heating works as it should, also there is no issues with hot water either. What i've noticed that pressure gauge sometimes at 0.5, and sometimes at 1bar. Not sure what is causing this fluctuating? No visible leaks, i did have a look at all rads.
Can someone advise please.
Thank you]]>3WiFi radiator valvesSat, 02 Jan 2021 22:38:23 +0000
At the moment I have Hive working with a boiler and HW tank. That all works perfectly with the Hive time controls and normal Drayton TRVs (although they seem to be the work of Satan in terms of control!)
The Hive TRVs appear to have the functionality that I'm looking for BUT the user experience is dreadful - the things appear to be not fit for purpose and there's no sign of any improvement...
WiFi radiator valves]]>8Air in central heating after THREE MONTHS!Sat, 02 Jan 2021 20:34:08 +0000
I've still got air in my system, three months after the new boiler was installed!
I'm sure it's down to the crappy plastic pipes that have been rammed into walls and under floors with no attempt to keep them straight and level, but I'd really expected it to have settled by now!
Could it be drawing in air from the vent pipe?]]>10Asbestos soil pipe in Social Housing, Bartley GreenSat, 02 Jan 2021 20:13:54 +0000

Have an issue with a radiator - had a failed motorised zone valve which I replaced yesterday and when checking the radiators were subsequently warming up I noticed one was only like warm at the lockshield and relatively cool along the bottom 1/4.
Don’t think the events are linked, but since finding this issue I’ve tried to fix and can’t make...

I need to change sink waste trap. In order to do this I have to remove the sink which isn't screwed on, it's glued to back of tiles.
How can I safely remove it without damaging the tiles?
How would I fit it back in position after?

I have the following pipe layout in my house as shown below, but I have a couple of questions for you folk that clearly know more about this than me
With regards to the highlighted points in yellow on the diagram below...
(1) Am I losing 50% of my flow before the hot water even hits the Central heating or Hot Water Cylinder?
(2) Why is the flow from the pump going to both the return outlet and flow inlet on the Water Cylinder?
(3) Should this balancing tap be replaced with...

They are Teed off drop of two 15mm copper pipes ( I’m guessing flow and return) but from the copper My friend used 10mm plastic under the suspended floor.
The radiators take ages to warm up so whilst I have the floor up I will insulated the pipes
My question is whilst the floor is up shall I swap the 10mm to 15mm or will insulating the pipes do the job

The plan is to remove the shower tray that's currently installed, pull off all the wall tiles and fit a corner acrylic bath before retiling above.
The electric shower (cold pipe only, fed from the attic above) will be staying in place for continued use. The bath taps will be fed from the pipes behind the sink/basin.
Main issue: I have ordered an acrylic corner bath that will be attached to two solid walls on the straight edges. General...

Complete novice here. Need to remove two towel rads to redecorate behind.
not too sure how to close down the valves - the left hand side doesn’t seem to have a spindle that I can turn (based on a YouTube video I watched)
Steps to remove would be helpful if someone could assist.

I have a bungalow with a 15 year old WB 28i junior with the pressure fluctuating (0-3.5 bar).
